We have recently refreshed our Bloodborne Pathogens training and have released the new subject to users. We have two options for Bloodborne Pathogens training:
a Maintenance Safety course that is designed for non-medical personnel who may encounter Bloodborne Pathogens during the course of their work day, such as during refitting or maintenance of a helicopter used in air medical operations and
a version designed for medical personnel such as EMTs and nurses who perform duties on an aircraft during air medical operations.
Both courses are designed to meet the OSHA (in 29 CFR 1910.1030) requirements for Bloodborne Pathogens training and include up-to-date recommendations from the CDC regarding the prevention of accidental bloodborne exposures, post-exposure treatments, and a basic overview of the transmission of bloodborne pathogens such as HIV, HCV, and HBV.
Our Air Medical Bloodborne Pathogens subject was also recently accepted by CAPCE as an accredited activity for the receipt of Continuing Education credits under the Basic and Operational categories. This allows Air Medical Personnel with EMT and nursing licenses to receive continuing education credits toward maintaining their licenses and certifications.
Users who are already taking our Bloodborne Pathogens subjects do not need to do anything to access the updated Bloodborne Pathogens subject – you’ll see it in your menu. If you would like to sign up for this, or our other Air Medical and Maintenance Safety courses, please contact us at 316-265-1585. You can also view a complete list of our training courses on our website.
Bloodborne Pathogens: This continuing education activity is approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Pre-Hospital Continuing Education. CAPCE#:21-CTRS-F3-0604 CEH Number and Type: 1.0 CEH Basic or 1.0 CEH Operational
